Best Month To Visit Las Vegas

Generally, the most pleasant times, in regards to weather, are in the spring (March to May) and the fall (September to November). Las Vegas is in the desert, and in the desert summers are extremely hot and winters are extremely cold. However, that doesn’t mean summer and winter are bad times to visit. But, let’s get into that now.

Spring (March to May)

Weather: Springtime in Las Vegas offers mild temperatures, typically ranging from the high 60s to the low 80s Fahrenheit. This is the best time to visit Las Vegas Strip without the intense summer heat. However, temps drop toward the evenings, and it can get cold at night.

Pools: Las Vegas has a ton of great family pools. If hitting the pool is a priority for your family, keep in mind that pools in Las Vegas don’t open for the season until April. Also, it can still be pretty chilly in April. We’ve gone during spring break a few times and it was pretty darn cold for us. So even though the pools are open, it may not exactly pool weather just yet.

Events: This season is packed with events and festivals, such as the famous Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend. Spring kicks off Major League Baseball season, and Las Vegas is home to the A’s now with an A’s ballpark set to open in 2028.

Crowds: While spring is popular, it’s less crowded compared to the peak summer months, making it a great time for families to visit Vegas.

Best time of Year to go to Las Vegas

Summer (June to August)

Weather: Summertime is the hottest time of the year to visit Las Vegas. Temperatures average a whopping 100°F! Yes, soaring over 100°F is normal during the summer in Las Vegas. Plus, it is one of the wettest times of year too with it being monsoon season, which can cause flooding. Does that mean you shouldn’t visit during summer? Heck no, that’s one of our favorite times of year to go!

Pools: With temperatures reaching well into the hundreds, there isn’t much you can do outside in Las Vegas during the summer. However, the pools are open and in all their glory during this time of year. We LOVE going during the summer to enjoy the pools, walking The Strip at night, enjoying all free activities and cool outdoor spaces.

Events: Summertime is a big event time in Las Vegas. There are a number of pool parties, club events, concerts, and more.

Crowds: School is out and this when people love to travel, so crowds as well as rates are usually higher. That doesn’t mean you won’t have a good time though. Las Vegas is a big little city and crowds aren’t as big of a nuisance as they might in other cities.

Fall in Las Vegas

Fall (September to November)

Weather: Fall brings cooler temperatures similar to spring. You can expect an average of low to mid 80’s degrees in Fahrenheit with little if any rain, making it another ideal time to enjoy outdoor activities and sightseeing. Las Vegas is surrounded by gorgeous national parks, natural wonders, and ghost towns that make for a great day trip.

Pools: Pool season in Las Vegas generally closes in October. Even though the weather is still really nice outside, it can get cold by November.

Events: The pools may be closed, but you won’t be lacking for things to do. We often visit in November and kids love to enjoy time in the hotel arcades or at the many other exciting Las Vegas family attractions.

Fall, like any time of year in Las Vegas, is a great time for events in Las Vegas. During fall you can enjoy Las Vegas Food & Wine Festival and the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, just to name a few. It is also the kick off to hockey and football season, and Vegas is home to both the Las Vegas Golden Knights and Las Vegas Raiders.

If you love Halloween, Las Vegas has some fun events and attractions to satisfy your spooky tooth. The Zak Bagan’s Haunted Museum and Bodies Exhibit are two creepy Vegas attractions your teen will love all year long.

Crowds: Just like spring, fall sees a moderate number of visitors, allowing you to experience the city without the overwhelming crowds of summer. Unless, of course, you go during a huge event like the F1 Grand Prix. That event draws in the crowds like crazy.

Winter (December to February)

Weather: Winter is the off-season, so you can find great deals on hotels and attractions. Temperatures are cooler, ranging from the 40s to 60s, but it’s still a great time to visit if you prefer a quieter experience.

Pools: Pool season in Las Vegas is closed for the winter and doesn’t reopen until the late spring. This is for good reason too. It gets cold in Las Vegas, like really cold. It can snow, no joke. So don’t plan on the winter if you want to swim.

Events: Winter is a wonderful time of year to visit Las Vegas. It is loaded with fun events, holiday festivities and decorations, and sports events. The Las Vegas Golden Knights and Las Vegas Raider both have stadiums and arenas on the Vegas Strip.

If you love holiday decorations and festivities, then the winter is a great time to go to Las Vegas. The hotels go all out on decor and many of the Vegas shows take on holiday themes. Since it is too cold to go outside for most, this is a great time to enjoy all the inside attractions. This is a great time of year to catch a Vegas family show or enjoy a restaurant with live music.
