Whether you're visiting Las Vegas during Halloween or your family is just into ghost stories and curious about some eerie history, here's a look at a few haunted hotels in Las Vegas that might just give you goosebumps.

Horseshoe
3645 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109
The recently renamed former Bally's has its share of ghost stories, dating back to when the property was the original MGM Grand. In 1980, a devastating fire claimed the lives of 85 people, and ever since, guests and staff have reported ghostly encounters. From flickering lights to eerie noises, some say the spirits of those who perished still linger in the hotel.
Visitors who check into the newly refurbished North Tower of Horseshoe Las Vegas often report unsettling experiences, from the heavy smell of smoke to the faint but haunting echoes of screams drifting down the hallway. But the eeriest tale centers around an elderly woman spotted in the casino. She supposedly haunts a cluster of slot machines, calmly playing two at a time while her dress is engulfed in ghostly flames. Her presence adds a spine-chilling twist to this historic hotel, making it one of the most haunting spots in Vegas.
Family-Friendly Fun: Don't worry; there's more than just ghost stories here! Horseshoe Las Vegas is also home to the hilarious, family-friendly Vegas show, Potted Potter, which condensed all seven Harry Potter books into 70 minutes of laughter.
Families will also love the quirky and interactive "Twilight Zone Mini Golf," an indoor, glow-in-the-dark mini-golf course that's perfect for kids and adults alike. It's a fun way to explore the mysterious atmosphere without getting too spooked!
Kids and teens will totally dig the 7,000-square-foot Las Vegas Arcade at Horseshoe! This neon-lit playground is packed with 90 games for all ages. Whether you're into classics or the latest hits, this spot has something for everyone.
The Luxor

The Luxor's pyramid shape and ancient Egyptian theme set the stage for some spine-tingling stories. Over the years, the hotel has seen its fair share of accidents and unusual occurrences. Guests have reported strange shadows, cold spots, and mysterious voices. Some say the hotel's architecture, modeled after tombs and pyramids, may be to blame for its paranormal activity.
Unfortunately there have been several actual deaths at the Luxor, including multiple workers during the construction of the hotel as well as two guests jumping to their deaths from the interior balconies.
The Luxor's Titanic Artifact Exhibition as even had reports of ghostly happenings, like moving objects and apparitions.
Family-Friendly Fun: Kids will be in awe of the Luxor's incredible pyramid structure and the family-friendly attractions it offers, like the interactive exhibits that teens will love at the "Bodies... The Exhibition" and "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition." These exhibits are both educational and entertaining, making it a great way for families to spend some time learning together.
Luxor is also home to one of the best Las Vegas shows for families, The Blue Man Group as well as my kids favorite spot game, the HyperX Arena.

The Flamingo Hotel and Casino

The Flamingo is one of the oldest and most iconic hotels on the Strip, but it's also rumored to be haunted by the ghost of notorious mobster Bugsy Siegel. Siegel, who played a big role in building the Flamingo, met a tragic end in 1947, and some guests and employees claim they've seen his ghost roaming the grounds, especially near the memorial garden. There have also been sightings of Bugsy in the Presidential Suite that contain the golden bathroom fixtures from his original room.
Family-Friendly Fun: While ghost sightings might be spooky, the Flamingo is also home to a fantastic wildlife habitat, a free Las Vegas attraction that kids will love! The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat features beautiful gardens, waterfalls, and flamingos. It's a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle, perfect for families looking for some downtime.
The Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino
3000 Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Once known as the Las Vegas Hilton, the Westgate is steeped in history and rumored to be haunted by the King himself, Elvis Presley! Elvis performed here during his Vegas years, and many believe his spirit never left. From unexplained sightings to unusual occurrences in the hotel's theater, the ghostly presence of Elvis is said to be alive and well. Here is a fun fact, Elvis's brother still lives at the Westgate!
Family-Friendly Fun: Families will love the huge family suites, complete with bunkbeds as well as the hotel's massive pool, which even has a bar and grill nearby for convenient snacks. For a trip down memory lane, there's also the "Elvis Presley Exhibition," where fans can learn more about the legend and see his personal memorabilia.
Westgate is also home to the most beautiful Benihana restaurant I've ever been dined. It is definitely one of our favorite Vegas family restaurants.

Built in 1932, the hotel is rumored to be one of the most haunted spots in Las Vegas. Over the years, guests and staff have reported ghostly apparitions, flickering lights, and strange sounds in the dead of night. Some say spirits from the hotel's early days never left, adding an eerie vibe to the place.
The most chilling stories revolve around unexplained footsteps in empty hallways and ghostly figures that vanish into thin air. Guests have even reported feeling sudden cold spots, as if someone walked right through them. The spirits here seem to have a soft spot for mischief – moving objects, turning TVs on and off, and even tapping on windows. Staying at Hotel Apache might just give your family a ghost story to share for years! Plus, it is one of the few Vegas hotels without resort fees.

The Mob Museum is a short walk from the hotel. This interactive museum explores the history of organized crime in America. While some exhibits are more geared toward adults, there are plenty of hands-on activities and cool displays that will capture kids' attention. Plus, it has a haunted history of its own!

The Venetian Hotel

The Venetian may be known for romantic gondola rides, luxury suites, and over-the-top Italian charm, but according to Las Vegas lore, it also has a haunted side.
The resort was built on the former site of the legendary Sands Hotel, which was imploded in 1996 to make way for The Venetian. The Sands was home to the Rat Pack, celebrities, and decades of unforgettable Vegas history, and many paranormal enthusiasts believe some of that energy never left.
One of the most talked-about ghost stories surrounding The Venetian comes from its construction. According to local legend, several workers lost their lives during the massive building project. The most well-known tale tells of a construction worker who reportedly fell into a narrow space between the walls and wasn't discovered until it was too late. Rather than haunting the resort with malicious intent, believers say his spirit remains behind as a guardian, watching over construction workers and helping prevent similar tragedies.
The spooky stories don't stop there. Located inside The Venetian, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas has developed its own eerie reputation. Employees and visitors have shared stories of wax figures that seem to move on their own, unexplained noises after hours, and the unsettling feeling of being watched. While it's easy to blame the incredibly lifelike wax figures for playing tricks on your mind, the attraction has become a favorite stop for ghost hunters looking for paranormal activity on the Strip.
Guests and employees throughout The Venetian have also reported hearing unexplained footsteps in empty hallways, seeing shadowy figures, feeling sudden cold spots, and hearing voices when no one else is around. Some visitors even claim they've awakened in the middle of the night with the unsettling feeling that someone was standing beside their bed.
Whether you believe the stories or chalk them up to Vegas folklore, The Venetian proves that even one of the Strip's most luxurious resorts has a few ghostly legends tucked behind its elegant façade.
Family Fun: The Venetian is one of my favorite resorts to explore with kids because it feels like an attraction all on its own. Start your visit with a ride on the iconic indoor or outdoor gondolas, where singing gondoliers transport you through the canals and instantly make you feel like you've been whisked away to Venice.
Afterward, wander through the beautiful Grand Canal Shoppes. Between the cobblestone walkways, painted sky ceilings, charming bridges, and costumed street performers, there's always something to catch your eye. Even if you're just window shopping, the atmosphere is worth the visit.
When everyone needs a break, treat the family to oversized cookies, creamy gelato, or another sweet snack before taking time to admire the incredible architecture throughout the resort. From the ornate ceilings to the detailed replicas of Venice's famous landmarks, every corner is photo-worthy.
The Venetian is also perfectly located for exploring more family-friendly attractions. Both Madame Tussauds and the Sphere are just a short walk away, making it easy to turn a visit to The Venetian into a full day of family fun on the Las Vegas Strip.
Hot Mama Tip: Visit in the evening when the lights come on. It's one of the prettiest and most atmospheric spots on the Strip.
The Wynn
3131 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109
The Wynn may be one of the most luxurious resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, but beneath all the polished marble and fresh flowers lies decades of fascinating and sometimes eerie history.
Before the Wynn opened in 2005, this property was home to the legendary Desert Inn, one of Las Vegas' most iconic resorts. The Desert Inn became forever linked to billionaire Howard Hughes, who famously moved into the hotel's penthouse in 1966.
What was supposed to be a short stay turned into months as Hughes secluded himself inside the suite, rarely leaving and conducting business from behind closed doors. When the hotel asked him to check out, he purchased the Desert Inn instead. During this period, Hughes became increasingly isolated, and many historians point to his time at the Desert Inn as a significant chapter in his well-documented mental and physical decline.
Adding to the mystery, construction crews reportedly uncovered human remains believed to be connected to an old cemetery that once occupied part of the land long before the casinos arrived.
Since opening, guests and employees have reported hearing unexplained voices, phantom footsteps, doors opening on their own, sudden cold spots, and shadowy figures wandering empty hallways. Some staff members have even shared stories of hearing someone call their name when no one else was around.
Whether these stories are lingering energy from the Desert Inn, echoes of Howard Hughes' legendary stay, or simply classic Vegas folklore, the Wynn has earned a reputation as one of the Strip's most intriguing places for paranormal enthusiasts.

During the day, take a stroll through the resort and admire the incredible floral displays, whimsical art installations, and seasonal decorations that transform the space throughout the year. The attention to detail at Wynn is next level, and even walking through the lobby feels like exploring an attraction.
Wynn may have a reputation as one of the more upscale resorts on the Strip, but it proves that Vegas can be both glamorous and family-friendly. Between the dazzling displays, free entertainment, and unforgettable shows, kids will find plenty to enjoy—even if they don't spot a ghost wandering the halls.
The Linq

The LINQ may be one of the most modern and energetic spots on the Las Vegas Strip today, but its past is filled with decades of Vegas history—and plenty of spooky stories.
Before it became The LINQ, this property was home to the Imperial Palace, a quirky and affordable Las Vegas hotel that opened in 1979. The resort was owned by Ralph Engelstad, who became a controversial figure after reports surfaced about his collection of Nazi memorabilia and displays that drew widespread criticism. The controversy became part of the property's unusual history and added another layer of mystery surrounding the hotel.
Over the years, rumors and urban legends grew around the Imperial Palace, with some paranormal enthusiasts claiming the property had a dark energy connected to its past. Stories circulated about strange gatherings, unusual rituals, and unexplained activity happening on the grounds, although many of these tales remain part of local folklore rather than documented events.
The Imperial Palace also developed a reputation for paranormal activity. Guests and employees reported hearing disembodied voices, seeing shadowy figures, experiencing unexplained knocking, and feeling like they were being watched. The hotel's famous collection of antique cars was also rumored to bring some unusual energy, with some believing the spirits connected to the artifacts followed them into the resort.
When Caesars Entertainment transformed the property into The LINQ in 2014, the old Imperial Palace disappeared—but many believe the stories stayed behind. Family Fun: The LINQ is one of my favorite spots for families who want a fun Vegas experience without the luxury price tag. The energy here is lively, casual, and packed with things to do. Start with a ride on the High Roller, the giant observation wheel that gives you incredible views of the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding mountains.
After taking in the views, wander through the LINQ Promenade, an outdoor entertainment district filled with restaurants, sweet treats, shops, live entertainment, and plenty of people-watching. Families can grab over-the-top desserts, enjoy live music, challenge each other at games, and soak up the classic Vegas atmosphere.
The LINQ is also within walking distance of several other family-friendly attractions, including the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat and other Strip favorites, making it an easy stop to add to a day of exploring Las Vegas with kids.
Hot Mama Tip: The LINQ Promenade is especially fun after sunset when the lights come on and the Strip comes alive. It’s one of those places where you can just wander, snack, and enjoy the Vegas vibe without needing a big budget.
