Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any non-Disney hotels that are walking distance to Disneyland park?

Yes, there are several hotels near the Main Gate that are East of Disneyland (off Harbor Blvd) which are generally considered to be walking distance to the park (<1.0 mile away or 10-15 mins walk). There are several other clusters of hotels to the South (off Katella Blvd) and to the North (off Ball Rd) that may be too far to comfortably walk, especially with young kids, but that are just a short (5-10 mins) shuttle ride away. The closest hotel to the main gate (and one we recommend in this article) is the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn & Mini Suites.

Are there any cheap hotels near Disneyland?

Yes and no (it depends on your definition of cheap). There are some hotel options that are more budget-friendly than others near Disneyland, but you should expect to pay at least $100/night to stay at a 2-star hotel near Disneyland. Prices go up from there and will also vary significantly depending on factors like time of year, and day of week. A few of our favorite more affordable family hotels near Disneyland are Hyatt Regency Orange County (a few miles south, but a quick shuttle ride away from the park) and Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel.

What is the best hotel for a large family near Disneyland?

Since Anaheim is a prime tourist destination year-round for families with children, there are more hotels with large family suites than you would expect in a typical city. In fact, all of the hotels featured in this list have suites to accommodate families of 5+, but a few standout hotels are the all-suite, condo-style Clementine Hotel & Suites, and Grand Legacy at the Park, which has a 3 room 950 sq ft family suite with 4 queen beds.

Do any hotels in Anaheim near Disneyland have bunk beds for kids?

Yes, you can find several family-friendly hotels near Disneyland with bunk beds for the kids. Some even get creative like Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel, which has cute castle-shaped bunk beds.

Which hotels near Disneyland offer complimentary breakfast?

Yes, there are several hotels that offer free breakfast buffet. Our favorite hotels in Anaheim near Disneyland that offer complimentary breakfast are Best Western Plus Park Place Inn & Mini Suites (or any of the other Best Western Plus hotels near Disneyland for that matter) and Clementine Hotel & Suites.

Do any hotels near Disneyland offer free parking for guests?

Free hotel parking is rare to find near Disneyland, but free parking is offered to guests at Clementine Hotel & Suites, and is included in some packages at Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel.

Here’s why you will love it

The Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel is our top pick if you are looking for a family hotel near Disneyland that has it all. The location is great (1 mile to Disneyland’s entrance), and the facade of the hotel will greet you with a delightful old-world charm with its criss-crossing wooden beams, castle turret, steep angular roofs, and all. This charm will follow you into your room or family suite, as you will find elegant draping and bunk beds that look like a castle.

What really set’s the Majestic Garden Hotel apart, though, is their dedication to providing kid-friendly amenities and fun family activities like a family game room (with pool tables and arcade), a nice pool area with whirlpool, and various activities with Princess Corinne including story-time, meet & greet, movie nights, and an optional tuck-in service. Finally, you can rest assured that they have plenty of convenient dining options on-site, including outdoor bistro style tables to enjoy their lush gardens in the Southern California sunshine.

Family Suite at Hyatt Regency Orange County near Disneyland
Hyatt Regency OC has really big family suites near Disneyland

Here’s why you will love it

The Hyatt Regency Orange County is a great choice for families looking for a budget-friendly family hotel near Disneyland, but who also appreciate upscale furnishings and design. Families with kids will also really like the outdoor activities available on the Sports Deck, including basketball, ping pong, bocce ball, oversized checkers, and lots more. Not to mention, they have outdoor fire pits to enjoy the delicious Southern California evenings al fresco. The hotel is located almost 2 miles south of Disneyland on Harbor Blvd, but at least they have a shuttle service available for a modest fee.

Another cool thing about the Hyatt Regency is the availability of on-site dining at the OC Brewhouse and TusCA, both located in the Atrium lobby. TusCA is a beautiful place to start your day with a huge selection of breakfast items (including buffet-style), and kids under 5 even eat FREE! If your kids are ages 6-12 then the cost of their breakfast will actually be their age – pretty funny, but sounds fair. Hyatt Regency OC is a very nice hotel that is surprisingly budget-friendly for what you get (and you can earn World of Hyatt rewards points).

Big family suite near Disneyland Grand Legacy
They have a 2 bedroom family suite with 4 queen beds for big families

Here’s why you will love it

Grand Legacy at the Park is one of the top family hotels close to Disneyland – and I mean it is really close. It is located just 0.4 miles from the ticket booth at the main gate, which is about 6-8 minute walk. My favorite feature of this hotel is the rooftop restaurant and bar, called The Fifth, which has great views of Disneyland park and surrounding areas of Anaheim. They have live music EVERY NIGHT of the week, and the best part is that you can bring your kids to enjoy the music until 10pm. There are fire pits and fire features that create a gorgeous evening atmosphere up there, too.

Another thing that sets the Grand Legacy apart is that they have really large family suites, up to 3 rooms. If you add in the fact that they have complimentary roll away beds, I guess you can fit like a family of 12 in a room that size! They have a nice pool area with splash zone for the kids to goof around. There’s not a lot of other activities on-site that are specialized for kids, but if you’re spending some time at Disneyland they will get more than their share of activities at the park. This is a great choice for large families, or those looking for a raucous rooftop atmosphere to share with the kids (p.s. that’s where you’d find us!).

Key features

Clementine Family Suite near Disneyland with fireplace
They have awesome family suites with fireplaces!

Here’s why you will love it

Clementine Hotel & Suites is an extremely family-friendly hotel near Disneyland that has many unique features. First of all, it is a condo-style hotel that is made of all family suites with fireplaces and full kitchens – it will feel like you’ve rented your own apartment. It also has a nice little community picnic area with a BBQ, fire pit, and grassy area for kids plus playground equipment. Clementine also has a nice little pool area for the kids to splash around.

Another thing we really like about Clementine Hotel & Suites is that it has free parking, a free breakfast buffet that is highly rated, free wireless internet, and free grocery delivery. The location is pretty good right next to The Gardenwalk, which is a nice place to grab dinner after a day at the park (we love the Cheesecake Factory there). It would be a pretty long walk for families with small kids to get to Disneyland park (it is 0.6 miles), but on the other hand it is totally doable for families that don’t mind a 15+ minute walk. You know your family. They also offer ART shuttle tickets for purchase, so that is a good option if you don’t wish to walk it. Overall, Clementine Hotel & Suites is a great choice if you have a large family and prefer a quaint condo-style hotel with full kitchens and fireplaces. Key features

Family Suite at Best Western Plus Anaheim Park Place Inn
One of the family suites at Best Western Plus Park Place Inn & Mini Suites near Disneyland

Here’s why you will love it

The Best Western Plus Park Place Inn & Mini Suites has an interesting history. It is one of Al Stovall’s four classic space age themed hotels that have surrounded Disneyland Park since the 1960’s. The hotel has gone through various renovations over the years (including a Miami Vice makeover in the 80s!), and it was recently renovated to present a clean, modern style with updated comforts. The standard rooms are quite nice and are a good size for a family of four. The mini suite is big enough for a family of 6, with 2 queens and a pull out sofa bed. One of the main appeals of this hotel is the value – your family will save money with the free hot breakfast and parking is only $10/night, which is cheaper than many other hotels in the area.

Park Place Inn & Mini Suites really touts itself as the closest hotel to Disneyland and it’s true. I mean, they are located at the end of the pedestrian intersection that leaves the Park, and it is the closest you can get to actually staying at a resort on Disney’s property (which would cost substantially more). The convenience of staying close to the Park is so valuable after a long day at Disneyland with kids. It is probably only 5 minutes (or less) from Disneyland’s exit to reach your hotel! Overall, Park Place Inn & Mini Suites is a convenient, clean, and relatively cheap family hotel near Disneyland that will satisfy most small to medium-sized families (up to 6).

That’s a Wrap!
