The last stop on our epic family road trip across US, prior to returning home to Orange County, was in Scottsdale, AZ. Despite being on the road for almost 60 days, we came into town with a renewed energy. Maybe because we were closer to home and on more familiar turf or maybe it was because we were just really excited to be in Scottsdale! To make things even more exciting, we were invited to stay at the Best Western Sundial during our visit. My sister had just stayed there a week before us while on her own road trip and really liked it, so we were eager to see Best Western Plus Sundial for ourselves. After a yummy dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory in nearby Chandler, we checked-in and literally dove right into the fun. Seriously, it was about 100 degrees out. We headed straight for the pool.

Great Location:
Besides competitive room rates, location is one of the most important features when choosing an accommodation. It makes exploring a city like Scottsdale so much more convenient when you are close to all the action, especially while traveling with kids. At the Best Western Plus Scottsdale hotel, we couldn’t have asked for a better location. It is in the center of the Entertainment District and just minutes from Old Town Scottsdale, the Arts District, Scottsdale Fashion Square and the Desert Botanical Gardens. We could hear night life, music and fun energy from nearby establishments filling the dusk Arizona sky as we approached the Sundial hotel. The room was nice and quiet, of course, but we got the sense that something fun was happening in town as soon as we left the lobby.
Not only are you a hop, skip and jump away from the best restaurants in Scottsdale, you are also close to Camelback Mountain. So whether you love the city or the great outdoors, you will be in the center of it all when staying at Best Western Plus Sundial Scottsdale, Az.
Although the Entertainment District is super fun, I just really love Old Town Scottsdale. We spent a majority of our time exploring the cute shops, enjoying live music and dining at some of the best restaurants in Old Town Scottsdale. We are known to seek out family friendly experiences at bars and pubs with live music, and the Rusty Spur Saloon in Old Town, with its live music 7 days a week, was a perfect spot to hang our boots for a few hours!
Watch how we spent the day in Scottsdale:
Best Western Plus Sundial Scottsdale:
Best Western Sundial has all the comfortable amenities that one comes to expect from Best Western hotels. For instance, the rooms all have cable or satellite television, mini refrigerator, microwave and coffee-maker. What I think is nice is that the rooms have bathroom phones. It is a great safety feature, especially for multi-generational travelers who travel with grandparents that could possibility slip in the shower. There is complimentary wireless internet in the rooms as well as throughout the public areas of the hotel including the business center, making it easy to sneak in some work on the road.
Hotel Highlights:
One of the highlights of the Best Western Plus Sundial for us was the lovely outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. It had sweet cabanas to provide protection from the hot desert sun by day and beautiful lights to add some excitement to the night. The first thing we did after checking into the Best Western Plus Sundial was go night swimming. It was the perfect for us to unwind after a long day of driving. In fact, it was so warm at night we went night swimming each night of our stay. The kids had a blast swimming under the stars, burning off lots of energy before bed.
Second thing we loved was that every room had a balcony. It made it so nice to enjoy those warm desert nights with a glass of wine enjoying the view of the pool while the kids slept in their bed. You could hear the music and all the people still out having fun in the Entertainment District. We were even treated to an amazing lightning storm far in the distance. In the morning, I snuck out to the balcony to have a peaceful cup of coffee before the kids woke up. Needless to say, the balcony was a major plus!

Finally, I can’t say enough about how much I love the Best Western’s complimentary full breakfasts. The selection of breakfast breads, cereals and fruits was great. They had amazing muffins that we enjoyed a little too much. Of course, my daughter loved the chocolate ones. To make a breakfast complete, there are also hot eggs, hot breakfast meats, other hot items as well as yogurts, juices, and coffee.

That’s A Wrap!
We all loved our time in Scottsdale, and our stay at the Best Western Plus Sundial was the icing on the cake. We had a great location right in the middle of all the action, complimentary full breakfasts and a fun pool to splash around in – all for such a reasonable rate! Not only are the room rates always competitive, you also earn Best Western rewards during your stay when you sign up for their loyalty program. Those rewards help keep families like us traveling together. Since the kids keep asking to go back to Scottsdale, it looks like we will be checking into the Best Western Sundial again really soon!

Wow, who would have thought that a Best Western could look so high end resort! Loved the rooms and that breakfast nook area looks amazing!

Gosh – sumptuous rooms and that pool I am sure was most welcoming in the heat. Nice to see it wasn’t a soulless chain hotel.
OK, don’t judge me…just didn’t think I could picture a Best Western to ever look like this! Thanks for sharing!
The Best Western Plus are great. You should also see my post on the historic Windsor and Hacienda for other awesome and unique Best Westerns.
Love the proximity to both Scottsdale and the Camelback Mountain – so many activities to choose from!
I have always thought the Best Western chain provides wonderful value. The rooms at this one look amazing!
Yeah, we’ve been frequenters of Best Western ever since we stayed at the Hacienda hotel in Old Town San Diego, still one of our favorite spots in the whole world. If you can, look especially for Best Western Plus (not just regular Best Western), as these are often unique since they are privately owned and operated consortium of sorts. I heard about how it works when I toured the Windsor, but forget some of the details! haha
