Basic Travel Apps Everyone Must Have

Make travel a breeze...even on the go!

It is more common than ever for travelers to rely on their smartphones to plan and take a vacation. Apps can be used for more than just inspiration – they can be used to book hotels, make restaurant reservations, or locate great fitness classes and other exciting activities.

Many apps are available to help with everything from last-minute hotel reservations to foreign-language dictionaries and guidebooks. In addition to providing on-the-ground local expertise, apps can help you navigate a new city, convert currencies, and pack a perfect suitcase. You can find an app for just about anything you need on the road.

All you need as per our suggestions and otherwise is a steady and reliable internet connection, say Spectrum, that will do wonders for you while you enjoy your trip with friends and family.

Below are some apps that are a must when travelling.

TripAdvisor

There is really nothing you can’t do on TripAdvisor. This app is truly a traveler’s best friend. You can not only book flights, but you can book hotels, vacation rentals, cruises, car rentals, activities and tours, and much more.

You can find travel inspiration by perusing the many travel articles and road trip itineraries available on the app as well as read reviews for guidance on where to stay, what to do and where to eat from travelers who have been there before and discover nearby places on mapIt. You can book everything without a cancellation fee, then save, organize and share your bookings with Trips. The TripAdvisor app also provides COVID-19 health and safety information for hotels, restaurants and experiences. It really is a one-stop shop for travelers.

Kiwi

You can book flights with Kiwi, but you can also book hotels, cars, activities, tours, and activities with Kiwi. When you’re on a long layover, the app provides useful information on lounges, ATMs, and luggage storage at airports.

Choosing your flight itinerary is fairly straightforward: you can select round-trip, one-way, or multicity flights. Check out the special Nomad feature for flight itinerary packs, such as the Tour Europe pack, if you’re looking for inspiration. In addition to Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Paris, this itinerary features the cheapest way to enjoy three to five nights in each.

Cheaper Calls

You can make free international calls through the Cheaper Calls app as long as you and the person you are calling both have the app. Roaming charges can also be avoided with this app. In contrast to other calling apps, it compresses data so you barely use any data when making calls (you need Wi-Fi or 2G to make free calls). It is still possible to make calls without a data connection or without an app if you add credit. Free 100 minutes to test it out for yourself! Lowest rates you’ll find anywhere!

TripIt

By keeping them organized in one place, this app helps you declutter your travel itineraries and documents. When you set up TripIt, you’ll be able to view travel confirmations, tickets, flight itineraries, hotel and Airbnb booking information, ferry tickets, rental car reservations, and driving directions without ever having to leave the app.

Furthermore, TripIt allows you to share your trip plans with friends or family who need to coordinate with you or know what you are doing. You can subscribe to TripIt Pro for $49 per year and receive real-time flight alerts, security wait times, baggage claim information, and loyalty rewards updates. TripIt Pro may be free if your employer uses Concur. The TripIt app is now available for download on the Mac desktop as well.

Booking.com

This is another great travel app for booking hotels in my opinion. Hotel rooms are available for booking on here in such a wide variety that it’s ridiculous, but you can filter your search by price, location, star rating, etc.

Despite the luxurious hotels on the strip, you can find some amazing deals if you look around. In addition, you can easily see which accommodation would suit you based on honest reviews written by other travelers.

You can unlock other goodies in store by using their Genius feature.

Priority Pass

It provides vouchers for meals at selected airport restaurants worldwide as well as access to more than 1,300 lounges worldwide. All American Express Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve cards offer Priority Pass membership to cardholders (enrollment required). In addition to the annual fee, you’ll have to pay a fee to enter each lounge depending on your membership tier.

You can use the Priority Pass app to check out the lounges or restaurants that you have access to by entering the airport name or airport code, which will display photos, hours, amenities, and specific locations. You can find out more about how to become a member of Priority Pass and how you can access lounges by clicking here. For some benefits, enrollment is required.

Currency Converter

Especially if you are traveling from country to country, Currency Converter is another great app to use for converting money.

Using our currency converter, you can easily figure out how much you are paying! App updates will require wi-fi, but even without it, it will not deviate too much from the current conversions.
