Las Vegas. The town where it is naughty not to have a cocktail in hand at all times. Where there is a bar around every corner offering one outrageous cocktail after the next. A beverage paradise with many of hotels and bars offering their own signature drinks and usually with some rocking theme. It is true that Vegas is known to be an adult playground, but that doesn’t mean it can be family-friendly one too! We often take our kids to Las Vegas  and found that there is very little we can’t enjoy with them, even cocktail hour. Las Vegas drinks don’t always have to have alcohol to be fun and that means everyone can have a refreshingly good time. So, whether you are on an adults only trip, visiting with kids or are evepregnant in Vegas  there is something to sip on for everybody! Here are some of my favorite cocktails and mocktails to sip on in Sin City!

Bloody Mary

I never start a morning in Las Vegas without a Bloody Mary in hand. This drink is, in my opinion, mandatory. Plus, it is a great morning cure for those late Vegas nights of heavy drinking. You can find Bloody Mary’s everywhere, but one of my favorites is at The Mirage and I prefer it jumbo, spicy and poolside!

Also, check out Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen. In the A.M they have an awesome Bloody Mary bar with a list of fixings that go on for days! Plus, for $6 you can add a 24oz beer back…which I did of course.

If you aren’t in Las Vegas, here is how to make a killer Bloody Mary at home. Nothing knocks out a case of the Mondays like a spicy morning treat.

Bloody Mary Cocktail

2 oz Vodka (use Absolute Peppar for extra spice)
½ oz Lemon juice (or Lime whichever you have both work)
Dash of Worcestershire Sauce
Dash of hot sauce
Tomato Juice
Celery salt
Cayenne pepper (or steak seasoning)
Black pepper
Salt (I like to grind black rock salt if I have it)

Pour Vodka into glass. Add ice. Fill with Tomato Juice, then add all other ingredients and stir! Embellish with whatever fun garnishes you have on hand. I love to have green olives, lime & Lemon wedges, dill pickle and okra, but the possibilities are endless.

Bloody Mary Mocktail aka Dragon’s Blood

Tomato Juice
½ or Lemon or Lime Juice
Dash of Worcestershire Sauce
Very little if any seasonings (kids are funny with spices).

Just pour over ice and stir. Have fun with garnishes!! Kids love crazy drinks and I love that it is healthy. Be wild with bacon strips, pickles and loads of veggies! If it is presented right, kids will gladly chomp down on carrots sticks, cucumbers and celery. If I tell my kids to drink tomato juice they’ll turn up their nose, but if I dare them try Dragon’s Blood…oh boy they will Chug-A-Lug!

Tom Collins
