Best Florida Cocktails


What do I love more than sun, sand and sea? Southern Sippers of course! I’m talking cocktails and more specifically, I’m talking cocktails that embody the topical feeling of the Sunshine State. The kind of cocktails, that no matter where you are, you can almost feel the cool ocean breeze, the warm sun on your skin and the soft sand beneath your toes. That’s right; it is time for another installment of HotMama Cocktails: Florida.

What does Florida have a lot of? Alligators. So what out. Alligators might get you, but this cocktail will bit you in the booty.

Alligator
2 oz Vodka
1 oz Orange Curacao
1 oz Melon Liquor
1 oz Sprite
½ oz Orange Juice
½ oz Lime Juice

Pour all ingredients into Collins glass. Fill with ice. Stir and garnish with Orange Twist.

Alligator Mocktail
2 oz Sprite
2 oz Orange Juice
1 oz Lime Syrup (Torani)
1 oz Lime juice

Pour all ingredients into plastic Collins glass. Fill with ice and garnish with an Orange wedge.

What’s a lawn with out one of these pink babies artfully displayed in front? Lawn Flamingos may be kitschy, but the cocktail is classy.

Flamingo
2 oz Gin
¾ oz Apricot Liquor
¾ oz Lime Juice
¼ oz Grenadine

Shake all ingredients and stain into Martini glass. Garnish with Lime twist and dried apricot (optional).

Flamingo Mocktail
2 oz Apricot Juice
1 oz Lime Juice
1 oz Grenadine

Shake and Strain into child-friendly Martini glass. Garnish Lime wedge and dried apricot.

The west of Florida has some of the best sunsets around and the beaches off the Tradewinds Island Grand is my favorite spots to watch this magical moment of the day. This beautiful pink sunset cocktail can be enjoyed at Salty’s Bar or at home.

Tradewinds Sunset

2 1/2 oz Rum

1/2 oz Black Raspberry liqueur,

1/2 oz Banana Liqueur

1 oz Orange Juice

1 oz Cranberry Juice

1 1/2 oz Lime Juice

Fill glass with ice, layer liquids starting with liqueurs. Garnish with pineapple slice or orange wedge.

Tradewinds Sunset Mocktail

1/2 oz Blackberry syrup

1/2 oz Banana syrup

2 oz Orange Juice

2 oz Cranberry Juice

1 0z Lime Juice

Fill plastic cup with ice and layer liquids, starting with syrups.

It is always party time in Palm Beach or where ever you choose to enjoy this fun little drinky.

Palm Beach Martini
2 oz Gin
¾ oz Sweet Vermouth
¾ oz Grapefruit Juice

Shake and strain into Martini glass. Garnish with Grapefruit Twist.

Palm Beach Mocktail
2 1/2 oz Grapefruit Juice
2 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice

Shake and strain into plastic martini glass. Garnish with grapefruit twist or wedge.

 

Palm Beach Martini

Beach Cooler

2 oz Rum

3/4 oz Lime Juice

3/4 oz Orange Curacao

1/2 oz Papaya Juice

Shake and strain into bucket (lowball) glass and fill with ice. Garnish with Lime Twist.

2 1/2 oz Papaya Juice

3/4 oz Orange Juice

3/4 oz Lime Juice

Shake and strain into plastic bucket glass and fill with ice. Garnish with Lime Twist or wedge. If you have fresh papaya, you could garnish with that too. Makes for a healthy snack.
